Welcome to Disabled Snowsports Canterbury

Disabled Snowsports Canterbury encourages people with disabilities to learn to ski not only for recreation, but also to experience the sense of freedom of mobility, build self esteem, independence and confidence.

During the ski season we operate three ski days to Mt Hutt every week with our Instructor, Assistant Instructor and volunteer helpers. We provide two modern mini vans for transport.

We supply adaptive equipment which ensures comfortable, confident skiing for all of our members.

We are a non profit organisation based in Christchurch, New Zealand and rely on fundraising to run our ski programme. We are always in search of ways to raise funds to keep the Disabled Snowsports Canterbury ski and boarding programmes operating.

We also have a special introductory offer for first time skiers to ‘have a go’, so contact us for more information.

Skier Information

We are a fun group of people who share an enjoyment of skiing and snow boarding. We ski every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. If Mt Hutt is open we go skiing but if it is closed or on hold then we don’t go. Most arrangements for ski days and coming events are made via our answer phone: 365-8348. Please phone by Monday night so our Instructor has time to organise helpers and transport. Read more...

Helper Information

We are always on the ‘look out’ for able-bodied skiers and boarders to participate in our volunteer helpers programme. Each year we recruit skiers and boarders for training as “ski buddies” to assist our members on the ski field and ensure they are able to enjoy themselves as much as we do when skiing and riding. Our helpers do not need to be expert skiers and riders to participate in the programme. Read more...
