Introduction to Disabled Snowsports Canterbury Disabled Snowsports Canterbury is a non-profit organisation with a motto of: Safety, Fun, and Learning. We encourage people with disabilities to learn to ski not only for recreation, but to experience the sense of freedom of mobility, a means of building self esteem, independence and confidence. We supply adaptive equipment which ensures comfortable, confident skiing for all of our members. We are based in Christchurch, New Zealand. We operate three ski day trips to Mt Hutt every week with our Instructor and Assistant Instructor plus volunteer helpers. We provide two modern mini vans for transport. We rely on fundraising to run our ski programme, therefore we are always in search of ways to raise funds to keep the Disabled Snowsports Canterbury ski and boarding programmes operating. We do have a special introductory offer for first time skiers to ‘have a go’. We run a fitness session every Monday night at the Hammersley Park School Hall, Christchurch from 6 to 7pm where everyone is welcome to come along and keep their fitness up and also catch up with other members and instructors.
